ABOUT THE GAME PRESERVE
The Březka Game Preserve is located approximately 20 km southwest of Prague, on the border of the Prague-East and Prague-West districts, at an altitude of 400–460 m above sea level. The game preserve is directly adjacent to the village of Kostelec u Křížků.
The game preserve was first mentioned in 1720 and is mainly where fallow deer are kept. The game preserve covers an area of 206 hectares, with a substantial part of this area being forest land. In addition, the forests of the Březka Game Preserve are complemented by numerous meadows and water areas. The tree species composition of the preserve consists of 60% deciduous trees (especially sessile oak and horse chestnut) and 40% coniferous trees (Norway spruce, larch, and giant fir).
The primary activities in the game preserve include high-quality breeding of fallow deer, wild rabbit, wild turkey, and black grouse. Fallow deer are also available for hunting. Thanks to tourism and the accommodation infrastructure, private events or sport fishing can also be held in the game preserve. In recent years, however, there has also been an appeal to the Březka Game Preserve to provide environmental education, especially for kindergartens and primary schools. Today, the game preserve also functions as a haven for biodiversity, due to the three-hundred-year-old trees that remain here as den trees.
ACTIVITIES
Hunting packages
We offer paid hunting opportunities for fallow deer (Dama dama L.) with antlers that regularly achieve gold medal quality. These fallow deer feature very thick and long antler stems or shorter stems and wide shovels. The Březka Game Preserve is known for its specialty trophy animals, specifically, the “Březka hook” of their antlers. Additionally, we provide accommodations and refreshments for hunting packages.
You can learn more about paid hunting here.
Sport Fishing
The landscape of the Březka Game Preserve includes a pond system, where it is possible not only to relax in the shade of the riparian landscape but also engage in sport fishing. Representative fish species include carp, grass carp, and pike, many larger than average.
You can find more about sport fishing in the game preserve here.
Private events
Since the time of the Ringhoffers, the gamekeeper’s lodge has been located in the center of the game preserve, near the ponds and central grazing areas. The gamekeeper’s lodge and the surrounding area are available for hunting guests as part of the hunting package, as well as for other groups and corporate events.
You can find more information about accommodations and private events here.
Environmental Education
The flora and fauna of the Březka Game Preserve are also available for educational activities. A wide range of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, various trees, and forest, meadow, and wetland herbs create a unique natural classroom experience for visitors of all ages. We offer environmental education programs for kindergarten and elementary school groups, including special programs for adults or corporate events.
The staff of the Březka Game Preserve and the Forestry and Game Management Research Institute include ornithologists, zoologists, and, of course, leaders of hunting clubs, forest educators, and other environmental lecturers. We can also prepare tailor-made programs for you according to your group’s requirements.
